Living in big cities, sometimes, do not allow us to pay attention to sceneries and characters that are part of our daily life. There are times that our daily challenge is to leave home and return there trying to escape violence, so common nowadays. We are forced to create defense mechanisms that complicate a sympathetic look to someone, or even an action that could help us transform this misery state present in the streets of our town.

The red traffic light that obey us to stop and live for a few minutes with the population of the street that move through there is the point of Stoplight. From an incident that makes all turn their eyes for a little more time than usual, the red traffic light is a register of the brazilian reality: the contradictions, dreams and desires of a huge population. A population that is selling products in every corner, begging for a penny, mugging, or showing special dots as a way of surviving.

Stoplight shows the daily life of our characters that further on will bump into each other on a traffic light of a busy avenue, near to a shopping center, in Barra da Tijuca, a noble district in Rio de Janeiro. By entering the life stories of our characters, we will meet the bitterness, pleasures, risks and dreams of that ones: people who sell products, shows their special talents, or simply beg for money and depend on the attention of the drivers who pass by.

The television serie Stoplight will show five stories with 40 minutes each, that converge to the same situation – a shooting in the traffic light where our characters are going along. In five episodes, will be showed the stories of each character until the exact time of the violent episode – its consequences will only be revealed in the five and last episode of the serie. In the opening of every episode will be displayed the shooting that unleash the plot, and then we will show the point of view of each character, entering the path of their lives. A street clock marking 10:42 is the reference of the beginning of this tragic morning.
