Dead in the Water is a film that depics a generation values in a thriller.
Glória (Dominique Swain), her boyfriend Danny (Scott Bairstow) and their best friend Jeff (Henry Thomas), Americans currently living in Brazil, are going to spend their last weekend together at Angra dos Reis, before Danny goes back to the U.S.
Andrew (José Wilker), Glória’s dad, is bankrupt. He asks them to take Marcos (Sebastian De Vicente), his partner’s son, with them on the boat. Marcos’ dad is supporting Andrew financially at the moment.
The four take of to Angra dos Reis on a boat trip. Danny e Jeff went scuba diving while discussing business, and leave Marcos e Glória alone on the boat. When both man return to the boat they see them kissing.
Danny e Jeff throw Marcos overboard, leaving him behind while sailing around the region. The intention was to scare Marcos, but when they return to fetch him, he is not there anymore.
From this moment, the relationship between them disintegrates. Their survival instincts kicks in and each one of them decide, individually, to solve the problem their own way. Their true selves starts to show, and the typical spoilt egotistical young rich archetype who can do anything, become victims of their own selfishness.
